BEGINNER Egyptian Style Learn the expressive art of Belly Dance while
getting a great low impact workout! The Beginner I class breaks down the foundation isolations of Middle Eastern Dance. Each
class begins with drilling isolations to locate, strengthen, and tone the muscles. You will then add together the isolations
to create and practice beautiful dance movements. Each class ends with a fun and sassy combination using the movements learned
that day so you always go home dancing! Each class focuses on a different movement - so feel free to drop in at anytime.
BEGINNER II Egyptian Style This class is
for students with at least 5 months of Belly Dance class experience, either at the NiaMoves Studio or elsewhere. In class
we will continue to drill the foundation movements of the dance, and build upon them with arms, traveling, layering and shimmies.
Zills (finger cymbals) will be incorporated into the dance - students should bring zills to every class. They can be purchased
online here: http://dwp.bigplanet.com/saroyan/onlinestore/. Each session we will create a fun new combination or short choreography
to dance!
INTERMEDIATE Egyptian Style (by instructor invitation) Intermediate
classes include more challenging muscle and isolation strengthening, layering of hips, chest and arm movements, and more complex
traveling patterns, spins and turns to explore. Some sessions are prop-focused: veil, zills, skirt, cane, or sword. Students
learn about Egyptian folkloric dance and culture as well as explore the musicality of traditional Middle Eastern dance music.
Students are challenged to create their own dance in an improvisational format. A new intermediate-level choreography is taught
in most 8-week series. Intermediate belly dance builds upon the material and combinations
taught in the Beginner classes and is offered by instructor invitation. If you have at least 1 year of Belly Dance experience
and feel that you are at an intermediate level, please contact Sahira at sahira@sahira.cc to inquire. Clients who register without approval and do not meet the requirements will be asked to take the beginning belly
dance series.
BELLY DANCE CORE Fusion Style In this class we develop and refine belly dance movements with attention to clean technique, muscle memory,
defined isolations and proper dance posture. We'll sweat our way through a toning warm up, shimmy exercise, and drill sequence
guaranteed to move your body and your dance in the right direction. Intermediate and advanced students will be given challenges
such as layering, level changes, and direction changes while continuing to master the core movements essential to belly dance.
An introduction to Middle Eastern rhythms and live music are also sometimes part of this class. BELLY DANCE FLOW Fusion Style In this class, we focus on developing stylizations associated with fusion belly dance
and elements of performance. Learn how to use the stage, develop your stage presence, create and manipulate combinations,
communicate the music with your movements, and tell stories through dance. We'll begin with a toning warm up, move on to a
group movement exercise, drill small combinations of movements, and then work with a larger combination or create one of our
own. We will then focus on one or more elements of performance using what we have learned in class. Group work, props, and
live music are sometimes a part of this class. SPARK FUSION STUDENT TROUPE Intermediate to Advanced
- Audition Only This
supportive, somewhat communal class focuses on performance with a group and solo work. Students will select music and costuming,
develop choreography with the instructor, and learn to effectively critique dance. The emphasis of this class is on the art
of dance and the dancer’s development as an artist and ambassador of bellydance.
We begin with an intense toning
warm up, move on to a group exercise, review of choreography, and then focus on developing narrative pieces meant for performances
at a variety of venues, including large festivals such as 3rd Coast. Reading, journaling, and discussion is sometimes part
of this class. This is a class for the non-hobbyist or for those seeking to bellydance as a profession. Auditions for Spark Fusion Student Troupe are held at the end of each series. Students must be performance ready and
must have taken at least three consecutive series of Core and three consecutive series of Flow to be considered. 50% MULTI CLASS SPECIAL: Taking more
